Description

The St Louis School of Milan, established in 1996, allows children to complete a modern, challenging and imaginative educational programme based on the British National Curriculum through the Foundation Stage and Key stages One, Two and Three. The children are assessed at the end of Key Stages 1, 2 and 3 using National British tests (SATs). In addition, there is an option to study the Italian programme from Year 2. The school is recognised by the Italian Schools ministry as 'Scuola Primaria Paritaria'.
The school is set in a modern building southeast of Milan, close to public transport and served by its own bus service. It has a large outdoor play and sports area with facilities for football, basketball and volleyball, as well as 2 gymnasiums. Other facilities include a modern science laboratory, art rooms, ICT rooms and a multimedia suite with an excellent technical support team, libraries, dining hall and extensive music facilities. The school's wireless Internet network provides a safe connection to specially selected educational websites supporting all the research needs of every student. The school has a dedicated EAL and SEN team to support the children's learning.

Our motivated, experienced teaching staff have recognised teaching qualifications and the majority of staff have experience teaching in the UK and in other International Schools.

P.E and Music lessons are taught by specialist teachers. The swimming programme (from Pre-School) runs from January to June. Children can have private instrumental lessons in school in addition to their class lessons. Currently over 100 pupils are taking instrumental lessons with an option to take the Associated Board exams.

The academic year runs from early September to mid June. The school day from Year 2 upwards starts at 08.40am and extends until 4pm. Infant school children can enter between 8.45am and 9.30am and go home at 3.45pm . On Wednesday afternoons the children finish lessons at 1.30pm. They can then go home or take part in a wide range of extra curricula activities during the afternoon.
The school offers a varied extra curricula programme throughout the week, both during lunch times and after school, including ballet, drama, cooking, football, tennis, golf, basketball and choir.
In Middle School the students receive a new personal lap top computer for use in all lessons and at home. This technological tool enhances our modern educational approach while also creating motivated, independent learners.
Admission is possible at any time of the school year and requires reports from previous schools and an interview.
