Limited places are available for you to join us on the COBIS Advanced Child Protection Course delivered by 'Kidscape'

  • When? Tuesday 15th May 2012 (the day after the COBIS annual conference)
  • Time?  10.00 – 16.00
  • Where? St Peter’s Church Parish Hall, 119 Eaton Square, London, SW1W 9AL, UK

This high impact course is designed to support colleagues to:

  • Develop an advanced understanding of Child Protection issues
  • Have a further opportunity to explore attitudes and values with regard to safeguarding children.
  • Refresh & enhance their knowledge of signs and symptoms of abuse
  • Understand that although it is plausible for child care practitioners to predict the likelihood of certain children being abused, more robust evidence is needed
  • Understand that some children are resilient to abuse i.e. they see this as ‘normal’ behaviour
  • Are given the knowledge & skills needed to perform the function of ‘Designated Person’ or ‘Child Protection Officer’ in their setting
  • Receive information about Child Protection processes, including Child Protection conferences
  • Identify good practice in working with children and families, and reflect on their setting’s policies and procedures
  • A sandwich lunch and refreshments will be provided

  • COBIS member schools - £225.00 per person
  • COBIS non-member schools - £285.00 per person

Masters Accredited Four Day Middle Leader Programme
‘Leading Learning from the Middle’

 

A four day programme for aspiring or middle managers currently responsible for co-ordinating or managing a subject or aspect of school provision (e.g. Subject, SENCO, Assessment, Key Stage, etc). The first two days will be part of the COBIS conference allowing delegates a chance to meet 200 other teachers and Heads during break and lunch times. Limited to 30 places only!

Dates:                  14-19 April 2012 (the MLP begins on 15 April and ends on 18 April)         
Place:                  The British International School Cairo
Cost:                    COBIS member schools   £400    per person
                            Non COBIS schools:         £500    per person

Karen has recently been writing for the new personalised leadership pathways with the BBC and NCSL.

This programme provides the opportunity for middle managers to improve their leadership behaviours and develop the skills required to make real changes to standards in their area of responsibility. Previous participants have found the programme inspirational and life changing. Some schools use the programme to develop all their middle leaders in turn. Many schools use this professional development opportunity for groups of middle managers, sending three or four participants together to a programme.

Who Attends the COBIS Annual Conference?

The COBIS Conference is attended by Principals, Heads, Governors, and members of Senior Management Teams from British International Schools worldwide. Year on year the conference attracts delegates representing over 90 British International schools from more than 45 countries worldwide across Europe, Africa, Asia, Middle East, Australasia, and the Americas. Exhibiting at the COBIS Annual Conference provides an excellent opportunity to connect in person with senior leaders and key decision makers from British International schools.

Please Note:

  • COBIS Supporting Members are charged reduced exhibitor fees
  • Exhibition opens on Sunday 13th May and closes on Monday 14 May
  • Reduced accommodation rates at the Park Plaza Victoria Hotel are available to all exhibitors and delegates
  • All coffee/tea and lunch breaks are held in the exhibition rooms
  • Exhibiting companies will be listed in the conference programme and on the COBIS website
  • Exhibiting companies will have the opportunity to provide a description to be included in the conference programme for delegates
  • A list of delegates will be available at the conference
  • Food and drink cannot be supplied by exhibitors for distribution at their stands without prior arrangement. The hotel will require a waiver to be signed and corkage to be paid.
  • The exhibition rooms will open to delegates throughout the conference.
  • The Sunday afternoon reception will take place in the exhibition rooms.
