Description

The British Junior Academy of Brussels (BJAB) is an independent primary school for children aged 3 – 11 years with ‘many examples of outstanding teaching’ observed by inspectors of the Independent Schools Inspectorate. In addition to its main school the BJAB has a purpose-designed Early Years building where the school delivers a dynamic programme of foundation skills to the youngest children. The school’s curriculum is based on the British National Curriculum. The BJAB aspires to high standards in all areas of the curriculum and school life, where each child is encouraged to develop to his / her maximum potential in a caring and friendly environment. The school has a strong French-language curriculum and ICT studies are integrated into the learning programme at all levels. In addition to the academic programme, lessons in design and technology, the creative arts, sports and after-school activities ensure that pupils gain conceptual understanding from a broad and balanced curriculum.
Opportunities for pupils to extend their learning are provided through association with external organizations; examples of this include the sponsorship of a ‘Young Arts’ project by BRIDFAS and opportunities to enter external examinations in performance and public speaking with LAMDA. The BJAB aims to offer an excellent foundation to our pupils in an environment where they are encouraged to become confident learners. The BJAB has strong parental links and a thriving PTA. School transport is also available and after-school care provided daily. Admission is possible throughout the school year following interview with the Head Teacher and reports from previous schools. The BJAB is a full member of COBIS.
